Argo Design wanted to make a portable version of their recently successful immersion coffee brewer, Stäk. A product vision of what it could be if their reverse check valve system could be implemented into a more travel friendly package. The assumption is that if it is more travel friendly it could expand outside the brewing hobbyist's parlors and into the lives of everyday commuters, campers and coffeehouses.
The Problem. Stäk was made through slipcasting, a bespoke object that was beautifully designed and executed with a matte glaze finish making it soft to the touch and ceramic material that had a conductive, controlled temperature. However using this material came with it's downsides such as it's production costs; it's size, Stäk is very large due to it's double walls and wall thickness making it difficult to handle and store away; and it's physical structure, ceramic is a shatter prone material even with a small mistake.
